War Museum at Ludhiana

MAHARAJA RANJIT SINGH WAR MUSEUM AT LUDHIANA

As a gesture of tribute to the gallant soldiers, Punjab Govt. is in the process of establishing a War Museum of International Standards at Ludhiana, consisting of Ancient History Gallery, World War – I & World War – II Gallery, Princely States Gallery, Post Independence War's Gallery, Kargil Gallery, War Heroes Gallery, Uniform Gallery, Air Force and Navy Gallery, Signal and Medical Corps Gallery, a Library and a Audio Visual Theatre.

The building for the museum has been constructed on a 4 acre plot on Ludhiana – Amritsar Highway (NH-I), near Amaltas Hotel, with a construction cost of Rs 2.00 Crores. The Ancient History and Kargil Galleries have been made operational, while equipping/layout of Post Independence War Galleries is under way, for which Govt. of Punjab has allocated Rs 4.00 Crores. Tanks, Guns, Prestigious INS Vikrant Model and other major equipments have been placed outside the Museum. A sonnet Lumiere (Light & Sound Show) on permanent basis has been installed at the War Museum to perpetuate the memory of those brave sons of the motherland who have sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle of India with the aim to create sense of patriotism and nationalism among the people, especially younger generation.
